The Rome Opera is immersed in the filming of the show Il suono della bellezza (The Sound of Beauty), the result of a collaboration thanks to which the musicians of the Roman theater perform for the first time in one of the most emblematic museums of the Italian capital, the Borghese Gallery.
The Borghese Gallery has its origins in the figure of Cardinal Scipione Borghese (1576-1633), who bought the Villa Borghese Pinciana, whose spaces house the museum and are surrounded by magnificent gardens. An avid art collector, Scipione Borghese was Lorenzo Bernini’s first patron, and during his lifetime he acquired important paintings by Caravaggio, Raphael, Correggio, Titian and Rubens, among others, as well as important ancient (the Borghese Gladiator) and contemporary statues.
In this exceptional setting, the Rome Opera Orchestra offers pornohirsch, under the baton of its conductor Daniele Gatti, a musical journey from the baroque of Handel to the neoclassicism of Stravinsky, passing through Mozart and Paisiello.
The program opens with the Overture to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito. Next, soprano Rosa Feola will perform famous arias such as “Casta diva” from Norma by Vincenzo Bellini, “Padre, germani, addio!” from Idomeneo by Mozart, “Lascia la spina, cogli la rosa” from Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno by Georg Friedrich Haendel and the duet “Rendez-moi donc le bien” from Proserpine by Giovanni Paisiello (with bass Roberto Lorenzi).
The dancers Eleonora Abbagnato and Giuseppe Schiavone will pay tribute to the famous sculptural group “Apollo and Daphne” by Bernini – one of the jewels of the Borghese Gallery – with a fuq choreography on the “Apotheosis” from the ballet Apollon Musagète by Igor Stravinsky. The program will be completed with the overtures of Hercules and Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno by Haendel, and The Chaos from Les Ă©lĂ©ments by Jean-FĂ©ry Rebel.
With the project “The Sound of Beauty”, the Rome Opera House seeks to establish an ideal dialogue between art and music, opening new stages in spaces that are highly representative of the city’s cultural tradition. The show, filmed by the cameras of Italian public television (RAI), will be broadcast on dates to be alohatube.
